That would be the current Combat Service Identification Badge you know that piece of insignia that's worn today on the Class A Blues, worn in instead of the shoulder patch. As such I can't or wouldn't categorize these and those like them as PTCs

Here's a foto of that 82nd Abn Div NCBU DI in use in 1952 showing that these were worn, seems to be all we ever see is the 82nd Abn Div Patch type Crest right! Like wise the 101st Rendezvous With Destiny NCBU DI, seems to be we see always the 101's PTC.

What appears to be the 8th Air Force PTC, and on a post 1947 Airman, 9th AF was active in the 50s, at Greenville AAB SC (late 1946), and from 1954, Shaw AFB SC.

This looks like the patch type crest of the 2nd Infantry Division being worn in the early 60s. That makes since because the Institute of Heraldry shows the DUI for the NCBU of the 2nd wasn't approved until 1968.

Funny you should mention these. Here's a great photo I found that shows the new NCBU 2nd Div DIs.

One Wesley Adams, circa 1973-74, 1st Sgt in an unknown high command organization of the 2nd Div, either the Div HHC, or one of the HHC's of one of the three brigades. (Great theater made fatique we see). He was in from 1957 to 1984, was a Cmd Sgt Maj upon retiring.

This chaplain from the Joint Readiness Training Center appears to be wearing the patch type crest of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment above his ribbons.

That's different. He also has silver buttons.

A WWI cap with a 88th Inf Div PTC in the form of a small cloth patch, hard to tell what the border is though, cord, or bullion.

Collectors see a lot of WW I caps with metal insignia - collar disks, and the like, but it is rare to see one with a patch type insignia, or any type of cloth insignia.

Thanks for showing it.

Sorry I neglected to state this. Believe this is a WWII cap sans piping, with cloth PTC being Italian made.

Yes indeed, the WWI was a typo on my part.

Well Well look at this, looks like we're seeing a Patch Type Crest being worn for 50s-60s U.S. Army Aggressor Forces patch right! that's what it looks like, but I couldn't begin to guess which unit would wear something like this as a permanent party unit crest, like was this a command organization with a CO, Staff and HHC?.

Here we see two views of this insignia, on a truck, and on the uniform, to include the same insignia PTC on the cap "Enemy Generalissimo"
