This one is my favorite. It belonged to a member of the 3rd Armord Amphibian Battalion Peleliu and Okinawa . He was the gunner on LVT-A B-16 and is mentioned in the book Before the First Wave and went on to write the book The Private War of Doctor Yamada.

I guess that could be him. However, it seems quite a few people have that name. I wonder if there is a more or less simple way to verify which person the tags belonged to?

I believe this may be your guy

It's a bit more difficult with KW and later tags. The WWII NARA files that weren't destroyed are very helpful in confirming identities. Unless your guy was wounded and has a file on NARA you'd be hard pressed to confirm his residence/date of birth/service number. It's very likely him but you are correct, it is not 100% confirmed

These are special because they belonged to my grandfather, Major Abner Jones Barnett of the US Army Medical Corps, and were worn in two World Wars.
