wildcat123 Posted March 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2008 I purchased a grouping of letters written by A. L. Lange of the 33rd ID (130th Inf Reg) during World War II and I am trying to find out more about the man. He was from Chicago, IL and enlisted 10-01-42. He served in New Guinea and the Phillipines. He was killed in action on June 16, 1945. The National WWII Registry has him winning the Silver STar and the Purple Heart. From the letters I have read, he sounds like your typical soldier writing home to his mother. He married his sweetheart while stationed at Ft Lewis, Washington before being sent to the Pacific. Included is a letter written by his mother the day before he died and returned to her. Can anyone give me any more info on this soldier? Any help you can give would be appreciated. I am getting ready to try to obtain his records from St Louis. Is there any other source for Silver STar citations? Thanks!
Mr-X Posted March 6, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2008 That is a good collection of V-mails. You are indeed right about the Silver Star : Lange, Anthony L. HQ, 33d Infantry Division, G.O. No. 204 (1945) the source was http://www.homeofheroes.com/valor2/SS/2_WW...rmy/Army-L.html once there press control and f and then type the name Lange. Hope this helps.
