I have not researched this grouping, but it appears George Jewett reached the rank of Commander.

A couple of additional ID cards for the same Aviator were also in the leather wallet. The one marked "NAS B.R. Fla." is that reference to Boca Raton or Banana River?

This "Pilot Qualification Card" was also inside J.D. Davis' ID wallet.

Three additional ID's for Tillett dating from 1943 through 1955. Note his rank advancement with the Marine Corps Reserve.

New one to add, NA #7441

Warren C. Hanchett, served 1940-1946, USNR, attained the rank of CDR.

Looks like he was winged shortly before Pearl Harbor.

Best, John

Bringing this back up with a new ID

This is a very scarce ID book to a USMC Radar Operator with a night fighter squadron.

This is one of my favorite threads on the forum.  I'm happy to see it revived from the archives.  Why is it posted in the wing section?  Well, every airman who was pinned with wings also received one of these identification booklets stating his/her aerial qualifications.

Find an old grouping which includes wings and his identification book...and you've found traceable aviation history!

You mean this one :)

I was the one who got it off ebay I really had no idea where the final price was going to end up. I have seen in the past what navy air medals sell for and I have a couple, I thought this would go higher.

His log book which I wish I had and a great history on this airman's service can be seen here
