Got this email today from "Cheaper Than Dirt" used military M-16/M-4 Magazines. Yeah, no one is panicking or profiteering!

I had the opportunity to buy 100 used M-16/M-14 mags about three months ago for $4.00 each and I passed on them since you could get them retail for about $8.00. :(

Gee I have about 50 of those sitting here. Maybe it's time to sell.

Cheaper than Dirt is known for outrageous prices during times like these. I wouldn't buy from them if they were the only company around.

You would have to come up a bit. I was watching GI's selling these outside JBLM to the surplus stores and getting $2 a piece for them. Most of the surplus stores were selling the used ones for $5 and new for $12. They weren't all Colts but today the price is $20 - $50 per mag depending on who you get them from. I'm hanging on to what I have.

I doubt at that price they are selling many.

I highly doubt that they have folks knocking down the doors for these things myself. I think it's more of a strategy to stop a rush of orders. Whatever the case, the days of the "cheap" mag are almost certainly gone, at least until the knee jerking stops. If I were you, I'd hold onto them too.

On several shooting forums, they are being posted for ~ $25.00 each and not being bought. Over several million were made for the military, so they are not scares.

Supply and demand I guess. When the supply catches up to the demand, and it will, some people are going to get stuck with some really expensive mags.
