CNY Militaria Posted March 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2008 I got this all at a Rochester auction a few years ago. This retired E-8 served in Korea during the war in an infantry attached Engineer unit, then went into the 98th ID reserves until 1968. This includes many interesting items, the first being the color portrait photo done in country. Notice how the colors are way off on almost everything! Also, read the 3 page letter I photographed! Much of the paperwork in this group is his quest to correct his incorrect DD214 to get his PH and CIB added onto it that he received, as well as asking to receive other medals he was "promised." One, a Silver Star, for rescuing a POW and leading the rescue party through a minefield, the other an unnamed medal for capturing OVER 100 NORTH KOREAN soldiers almost by himself! CNY Militaria Posted March 6, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 6, 2008 I forgot to mention, as far as the paperwork present is concerned, he never got a SS or other medal as it seems he generally got the run around from the officials he wrote.
