I had the opportunity over the winter break to go through some family photos, and these showed up. I believe these were friends of my Grandmother or relatives.

First up, a very nice postcard with four US Navy sailors.

According to the backside, they may have been assigned to a "USS Huron".

This may have been the former SS Friedrich der Grosse which was taken by the US and used as a troop ship.

Next, a gentleman identified as Merle Eicher, most likely from central Pennsylvania, who looks to be in a WWI era "undress" uniform. There is a private's stripe on the left shoulder. I am wondering if this was taken at a stateside training camp.

And just for fun... I am not sure if this is the same individual or not... the backside of the card says it was made by the Radium studio in Chicago.

That Radium Studio portrait is interesting, Radium was owned by Geo. Burke who was the photographer for the Cubs from around 1929-1980's or so. In the baseball world Burke and his photos are legendary.

That is his WW1 Honorable Discharge Chevron, not a rank stripe.
