RustyCanteen Posted December 27, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 27, 2012 Very nice 31st Inf photo, based on his uniform this would have to date between 1922 and about 1927. He is wearing the earlier uniform with standing "choker" collar, which was changed on the 1926 pattern uniform. Someone may be able to narrow it down even more as I was unable to find a reference to the date the Carabao patch was first worn.
FriscoHare Posted December 27, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 27, 2012 1924-about 1927. Carabao patches were approved in 1922, but the 31st Infantry Regt. DI was not approved until 1924.
RustyCanteen Posted December 27, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 27, 2012 Well that makes it easier, checking for the DI authorization date slipped my mind.
Marksman Posted December 28, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted December 28, 2012 Thanks for the informations! I have one more questions. Did anyone have an idea for the award next to the sharpshooter badge? Greetings Stefan
atb Posted December 29, 2012 Share #6 Posted December 29, 2012 The Philippine Division did not get the number "12" assigned until 1946 when it was reactivated after WW2. Before that it was simply called designated as the Philippine Division.
