Soon after the Army of the United States helped liberate France from German occupation, around in 1946 the United States Government Printing Office issued a brochure on how the French people could identify correctly the insignia worn by their liberators in a brochure titled: "COMMENT ON RECONNAIT LES FORCES ARMEES DES ETATS-UNIS" and it was published by Publie Par L'Office D'Information Des Guerre des Etats-Unis - US 724 FR (VE-Day60.03) There are twelve pages, but two of them are blank and intentionally left out from here. thumbsup.gif ENJOY!

This is interesting in that even though it was apparently published after the end of the war, there are several items of insignia missing that I would think should appear including the ribbon bar for the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the rank insignia for General Of The Army. All of these were instituted in either 1943 or 1944. Also, there is no ribbon for the World War II Victory Medal. I guess the publications took a while to catch up with the new insignia.
