Senator57 Posted February 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2008 Greetings! I'm new to this forum and would like your help with a wing identification. As you can see from the photo, it's a gold, 3" USAF navigator wing with a US Army JAG emblem over the shield. The reverse has a raised Meyer hallmark and shield with an incised 22M shield. Sorry for not having a reverse photo. It took me awhile just to get the obverse resized for attaching. I bought this wing a few years ago at the ASMIC monthly show in Lowell, MA. Since then, I've seen this wing pop up on eBay from time to time, including a 2" version. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Frank
Lee Ragan Posted February 18, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2008 Another one of those unauthorized novelty wings. Totally unofficial and who knows what, why, where or when.
irish Posted February 19, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 19, 2008 I beleive this is most likely a Central or South American wing. The gold color was quite popular in this region. A very large quantity of wings and insignia came on the market seveal years back. These were old obsolete and overun stock from the firm of N.S Meyer which closed in the last 10 years. Meyer had the contract to manufacture insignia for most if not all the latin american countries . They sold off truck loads of stuff. You will find much of it on ebay at any given time Best
