rams2050 Posted October 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2012 Hi, everyone! has anyone ever seen a medal awarded for bayonet? That is what it says on this WW2 era medal -- and matching bar -- that was awarded to my father sometime between 1942 and 1945. I was just wondering if it would have been awarded for proficiency with a bayonet, OR for action with a bayonet, sort of like a combat infantryman's badge. Thank you. patches Posted October 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2012 What your refering to is an Army Marksmanship Badge with a Bayonet Qualification Bar, correct?
rams2050 Posted October 10, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted October 10, 2012 Yes, that is the attachment. The medal has a type of cross in its central portion. Then there is a green, white and brown (maybe red, too) ribbon bar. Thank you!
rams2050 Posted October 10, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted October 10, 2012 Okay, it is a cross with a target inside, all surrounded by an oak leaf cluster. I looked it up and I'm thinking that denotes 'Expert.' I'm guessing expert with an M-1 Garand and a bayonet.
Seaton Posted June 19, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 19, 2016 The Bayonet Q-Bar was only authorized for the Expert Marksmanship Badge.
