Just picked up a padded case about the size of a map case, stamped with the marking in the topic title.
Very strange, never seen or heard of this piece. Has an attached but adjustable length strap at top.
Do wonder about theGrove Co with JQMD stamped below. Very well made so i hope it is not a fantasy piece.

Quite a lot of kit was developed for Airborne use

Photographs would be of great help narrowing down what variant you have, if you can post some they'd be of use

It's not a fantasy piece. I owned one once and have seen many of these bags. However I don't have a clue what they were used for. In fact there was one for sale last night at the monthly meeting of the Memphis Military Collectors Club......it didn't sell.

Oh that's funny Jim.....didn't know that was you! I have no clue what that bag was used for. I've heard all kinds of speculation but nothing that makes a whole lot of sense. Anyway have a good weekend.
