Championhilz Posted February 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2008 I picked up this real photo postcard recently to add to my collection of USS Seattle Artifacts. After WW I ended she was used to transport soldiers back to the United States. This picture is of Colonel Thomas Quinn Ashburn of the 324th Heavy Field Artillery on his way back to the U.S. onboard the Seattle. Ashburn was a graduate of the United States Military Academy and had a long and distinguished career, rising to the rank of Major General eventually. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. armistice111118 Posted February 10, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 10, 2008 This is really a great RPPC. I notice that the Colonel's "Sam Brown" belt cross strap has a provision for holding the British style of trench whistle: unusual for a US Army officer to wear this accessory.
