Keeping up with my resolution to share the collection..........

Here's a pair of painted A-2 jackets from the 390th Bomb Group 8th AAF that have been in my collection for a while.

1st up is a grouping to the lead pilot of the B-17 "Bad Egg" Lt. Hartnett flew 35 missions with the 570th Bomb Squadron 390th Bomb Group 6-8-44 to 9-29-44.

Next up a jacket from Ken Feichter. A Bombardier with the 390th Bomb Group on board the B-17 "Gun Shy"

He flew 35 missions as well but finished later in the war.

The crew after finishing their tour all had their jackets painted similarly. Here's a goup photo. You can see Feichter is wearing his jacket in the bottom row with the light color name strip.

Hello,

Fantastic groupings Jeff !

Pictures of the owner, Lucky bastard club certificate, log book,... what could we expect more ?

My preference goes to the "bad egg", even if the painting is less spectacular.

Congratulations and thank you for sharing !

Cheers,

Tim

Thanks guys! As Ron mentioned, the 390th has a great website that lists all of the missions each guy flew.

I spelled Fiechters name wrong in my 1st post....

Here is a link to all the missions he flew http://www.390th.org/resources/search/?q=Fiechter

Here is a link to the list of missions that were flown by Lt. Hartnett http://www.390th.org/resources/search/?q=h...h_tax_target=-1

Just click on operational records and the complete list for each guy will pop up. I love when groups have this kind of info available online!!

Thanks Jon! Glad you like them. I've had them both for a while and still enjoy them. Hopefully I can keep up with the new year resolution of sharing more of the collection! With football season here, weekends don't have as much free time as used to!
