manayunkman Posted September 8, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2012 There used to be a flea market outside of Mechanicsburg, Pa. called Silver Springs. My first introduction to this place was in 1976. One of the first people I ever met was Mr A a paratrooper who served in Sicily during WW2. We used to walk and talk but it wasn't until years later that he decided to sell me his jump jacket and pants. I never actually saw it but each weekend he forgot to bring it in. Then I missed a weekend and wouldn't you know that's the weekend he brings it in and sells it to my friend and competitor Ed Dailey. Years later Ed gets very ill and before he passes away he sells me his paratrooper collection. I got Mr A's jump set. Soon there after I got Mr A to sign a statement about his jacket and pants. He also gave me a copy of a newspaper article about his service. After Silver Springs closed down I lost contact with Mr A but found a newspaper article about his medal ceremony in 2000 something. He has since passed away. I hope you enjoy it.
manayunkman Posted September 8, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted September 8, 2012 Because of the unusual placement of the insignia I felt it was necessary to get Mr A to sign a statement.

Nack Posted September 8, 2012 Share #17 Posted September 8, 2012 Very nice! These jump uniforms are kinda of goofy looking, but cool in their own way. Getting one is still on my agenda, even though it's outside by collecting focus.
