The author apparently was a renowned and controversial German "sexologist" and wikipedia says "The press-library pictures & archival newsreel film of Nazi book-burnings seen today are usually pictures of Hirschfeld's library ablaze." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Hirschfeld ) The book was first published in 1931 in German and is still in print today, so apparently he struck a chord with this one.
