Karl_B Posted February 1, 2008 Share #26 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi Some nice images, thanks for posting. Most flatbed scanners should be able to scan in negatives. As opposed to a photo the negative needs a light source. I have tried with my scanner and left the lid open with mixed results. This was due to my light not remaining constant. I now use an old Microtek 5700 for most of my negatives. Cheers Karl
Stinger Gunner USMC Posted February 1, 2008 Author Share #27 Posted February 1, 2008 There is a difference between normal scanners and negative scanners. becides transposing the colors of the negative their is a standard light source on the bottom of the bed but the difference is that their is a second scanner and light source in the lid of the scanner
R Michael Posted February 1, 2008 Share #28 Posted February 1, 2008 nice price! Is it capable of scanning 4x6 negatives and larger? that is the problem I run into in scanners. Most just do 35mm. I have a epson 2550 and it scanns slides and 35mm strips only. If the one you use can scan the larger sized negatives I would love to find out whicch brand/model thanks! Mike My scanner was no where near $500. Maybe $150? about a year ago

Stinger Gunner USMC Posted October 29, 2009 Author Share #32 Posted October 29, 2009 There is a shot here of a bunch of sailors and marines in a court yard with monks. I think this is from his time on his med cruise on the USS Tanner

vicjoy1945 Posted October 29, 2009 Share #38 Posted October 29, 2009 Hey !! Great images and great information on how to bring these negatives to 'life" !! I have a slew of original negatives from a huge grouping to a WWII Pacific P-47 Ace. I'd love to "scan" them and see whats on em. Some nagatives are a large format (4X4?) while many others are much smaller. Some are in great shape while others look to be wahshed out. Since this pilot was a squadron and then group commander so there are lots of documents in the grouping as well as negatives of "groups" of pilots, individual pilots, pilots in their aircraft, and ground crew. Any suggestion on getting the images scanned would be much appreciated !! Thanks, Vic

teufelhunde.ret Posted October 30, 2009 Share #40 Posted October 30, 2009 The car looks like a 1953-54 Dodge. Its the 1954 "Royal" model launched that year as their top of the line series. s/f Darrell
Stinger Gunner USMC Posted October 30, 2009 Author Share #41 Posted October 30, 2009 Thanks! I was guessing that it was probably something he saved up for while in Korea, and bought when he returned home
