Does your M8 have a manufacturing mark of "EVCC?"

You may be surprised to learn that it stands for "Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company." They are the most commonly encountered manufacturer.

The going price for M8 Flare Pistols is between $75 to $150. I have one, and examine every M8 that I see at gun shows. I estimate that 75% of them are Eureka Vacuum Cleaner manufactured, based on the ones I've seen.

That's not an offer! That's robbery!

I just found a 1942 dated M8 signal Pistol, chipping enamel finish, manufactured by Eureka VCC, is this manufacturer more common than McInerney? Is 1942 a scarcer year than 1943-4?
Thanks, andy

I believe EVCC was the largest producer of the M8.

Guys did the M8 flare pistol ever feature in an Infantry company T & OE or was the smaller Sklar model more infantry based.

Infantry units were commonly issued the M9 projectore, while the AN-M8 was more a Navy and AAF item...

That being said here's a picture of a 101AB GI in Holland with the M8 (which he might have taken from a plane???) and pictures of the M8 and M9 to illustrate the difference
