Mtlh2010 Posted July 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2012 Anyone want to venture an estimate of what a pair of pre-WWI white "seam to seam" chevrons would be worth? Gunny G's blog site has an example photo of what I'm describing (attached).
Jack's Son Posted July 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2012 I see that you are new to the forum.....welcome! Estimating is a tricky subject here, some members may want to help, and others will remaine quiet. Good luck.
Lee Ragan Posted July 24, 2012 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2012 Those are pretty awsome. If they are originals, I would venture to guess a minimum for the pair at least $100. That's just my opinion and the actual value could be much more. The white on white old USMC chevrons are rarer than the gold on red type and this older version of a Gunny Sgt. is really rare. Some hard core USMC chevron collectors would probably pay much more for these. Like all collectable items, it just depends on what a prospective buyer is willing to pay. Brig Posted July 25, 2012 Share #4 Posted July 25, 2012 While these white chevrons aren't the rarest ones out there, early GySgt chevrons are some of the most sought chevrons in the USMC world...it wouldn't surprise me if this pair brought 200-300+ on eBay
