U.S. Infantry digging a trench - Pre WW I?

I picked up this picture several years ago at a local antique shop, and thought I would share it. The picture is very small, so I could not blow it up very much, but it shows a group of soldiers digging a trench. The picture is not dated or identified in any way, but from the look I speculate it was taken just prior to World War I - if anyone has any thoughts about when it was taken, I would love to hear the
