Steindaddie Posted January 17, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2008 I believe these are just what they seem to be; ID badges for the B-29 program. On the badge from Clovis, I thought the #500 was just a coincidence - a nice even number and didn't pay much attention to it. That was until I recently saw a photo of Boeing test pilot Eddie Allen where he was wearing the same style badge and with that same number: 500. And that badge was for the Boeing plant in Seattle, not Clovis. So was the number 500 some special B-29 related code, project number, what? Wailuna Posted January 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2008 There was 500th Bombardment Group (Very Heavy). B-29s, of course. Here is its station list: Gowen Field, Idaho, 20 Nov 1943; Clovis AAFld, NM, 12 Jan 1944; Walker AAFld, Kan, 16 Apr-23 Jul 1944; Isley Field, Saipan, 18 Sep 1944-21 Oct 1945; March Field, Calif, 24 Oct 1945-17 Jan 1946.
