1stusmcdiv42 Posted May 5, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 5, 2012 Just wanted to share three of my favorite map cases from my collection. This is an M36 map case, BOYT -44- dated case and is USN marked! This is mint, there are no stains, rips, tears, and the color is amazing. There are no rips or tears. These were used very early in WW2 by the USMC and its been hard to find a complete one without damage and an intact strap. Standard M36 US marked map case, nice early date made in 1940 by American Leather Leather Products Corp. This map case belongs to a grouping from a vets estate. 'Flage Guy Posted May 6, 2012 Share #6 Posted May 6, 2012 I hope you don't mind if I throw down on this party. Here is my map bag display. I'm a typical W.W.II slob, but man, do I like that Woodlander on the right!

'Flage Guy Posted May 6, 2012 Share #8 Posted May 6, 2012 The back; I had thought they'd revised these before 1942 until I stumbled onto this one...

hawkdriver Posted May 6, 2012 Share #10 Posted May 6, 2012 I'm a typical W.W.II slob, but man, do I like that Woodlander on the right! Up on top of the dowels is the new style, still in the wrapper. It is a ACU, current issue case.
'Flage Guy Posted May 6, 2012 Share #11 Posted May 6, 2012 Hawk: I see it up there; do you ever intend to pop it open? Here's another Marine Case ("BOYT -43-"), with some of the panels made from the "classical" M.C. mustard-O.D. canvas...

subsystem4 Posted May 6, 2012 Share #13 Posted May 6, 2012 Great stuff guys. I am a little envious of those with USN cases. One piece of navy marked gear I don't have.

'Flage Guy Posted May 6, 2012 Share #16 Posted May 6, 2012 Great stuff guys. I am a little envious of those with USN cases. One piece of navy marked gear I don't have. They do seem to show up every now and then...not near as often as the Army, or even the Marine Cases, though.
