Wailuna Posted January 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2008 Lieutenant General Henry Spiese Aurand, Commanding General, U.S. Army Pacific, addressing command and staff officers of USARPAC for the final time as their commanding general on the occasion of his retirement from active duty after 41 years of service, Fort Shafter, Territory of Hawaii, August 31, 1953. Lt. Gen. Aurand is wearing USARPAC SSI on his left sleeve. Most (if not all) of the officers on the reviewing stand served in WWII. Several wartime (right sleeve) SSI are visible in this picture: 1st Armored Division Fifth Army X Corps 35th Infantry Division China-Burma-India Theater 102nd Infantry Division Engineer Amphibious Command Third Army 10th Mountain Division Lt.
