Chukpike Posted January 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2008 Here is my Grandfather's Troop Billet Card. His service commenced June 26th 1918. Left New York July 31, 1918. He was in the 7Th Division 55TH Headquarters Co. 2nd Battalion. He was the gunner on a 1lb gun (37mm). The ship was the largest ship in the Navy. Was a German Ocean Liner stuck in New York at the start of WWI. Became the property of the US Navy upon our entrance in the war. German name SS Vaterland.
