the.warlord1944 Posted December 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2007 Does anybody know from when to when the us zone existed ? I have a toytrain (from ebay) and a porcelain (found in the trash) marked with made in us zone. I still have it because of the historial value (the porcelain is real ugly in my opinion) but because it`s old it may hold value for a collector who searches these things. was it from 1945 till 1948 ? The BRD existed from 1949 onwards ?? if my memory is correct ?
RRA227 Posted December 29, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted December 29, 2007 the.warlord1944,I think it was into the early 1950's.I buy all the U.S.Zone made items I can. Also Made in Occupied Japan/Germany. Not a lot of stuff is around. Rich A.
the.warlord1944 Posted December 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 29, 2007 I also think that those items from that timeperiod are undervalued. Also the korean war era is still much of a forgotten war.
BEAST Posted December 30, 2007 Share #5 Posted December 30, 2007 According to http://www.coxsackie.com/reference/cooaadt.htm: "From 1945 to 1950, German items may be marked "U.S. Zone" (or British or French Zone.) In the early 1950s, many items are marked Western rather than West Germany. After 1989, items are again marked Germany. " This is an excerpted summary from the site that shows the markings with their approximate dates of use: Nippon 1891 to 1921 Japan after 1921 Occupied Japanese. 1945 - 1952 Czecho-Slovakia 1920's U.S. Zone Germany 1945 - 50 Western Germany 1950 -
