The first Picture is dated 5-9-1916 with an inscription on the back of "Just arrived in camp at Las Cruces with Bates". Note: cocked 1903 Springfield rifle. Gen. Having spent some time researching a NG unit on the Mexican border, I never get tired of seeing photos from '16. As my grandfather (who received the DSC, Bronze, Croix d'Guerre and 2 PH)was in Mexico with Pershing. He lied about his age and was only 16 at the time.
