Bob Hudson Posted February 17, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2012 This came out of the woodwork today. It is from a WWII USMC Women's Reserve member. From what I can tell, she was a Parachute Rigger stationed in San Diego and at some point spent time in the Navy hospital (based on comments in the album). Besides the photos there are also some copies of a newsletter for her Marine aviation unit and various other little tidbits.

Bob Hudson Posted February 17, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted February 17, 2012 Girls just want to have fun.... For decades the Tijuana donkeys (often painted like zebras) have hosted gringo tourists and during WWII the Women Marines made the short trip from San Diego to south of the border. Bob Hudson Posted February 17, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted February 17, 2012 Male Parachute Rigger students got to make a jump at graduation time, but the USMC WR's and Navy WAVES riggers didn't:

Bob Hudson Posted February 17, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted February 17, 2012 This is from a Sunday newspaper supplement - kind of like today's Parade Magazine. This is the unit newsletter for Marine Air Base Group Two in San Diego. These are small sized, but with perhaps 22 pages per issue. The USMC WR's wrote much of it, especially the reports from various unit repair shops.

Yesterday I looked at two boxes of WWII Women's Marine Reserve uniforms including capes (...er, uh, covers) purse (with sersucker cover), etc. I've made a bid for that and a WWI Red Cross female service uniform and now I'm just waiting for the phone to ring. And yet besides, they appear to be customized at the same time for the concerned unit or location the soldier was in or ad. Could some one tell me how this worked?
