firegirl Posted January 19, 2017 Share #42 Posted January 19, 2017 I have a couple of pictures that I believe are the USMC escort of the body of John Paul Jones from France back to the United States. John Lester PRATER is the Marine on the right hand side.
firegirl Posted January 19, 2017 Share #43 Posted January 19, 2017 Not sure if this is the U.S.S. Seattle. I think John PRATER is here somewhere but I can't pick him out.
SgtMaddoxUSMC Posted January 19, 2017 Share #44 Posted January 19, 2017 looks like him 8th in from the left on the front row, but doesn't appear to have any rank.. an earlier photo perhaps?
firegirl Posted January 19, 2017 Share #45 Posted January 19, 2017 I think you are right. I did a tight crop on the original high res scan. There is something on his left chest, perhaps a medal, and I'm not sure but seem to be seeing a couple of stripes on his arm.

firegirl Posted January 20, 2017 Share #49 Posted January 20, 2017 TY SgtMadox for your comments. Hope I am not posting too much as I have a box load of items, but am trying to share items that may be of interest when there is some detail. I still have some USS Seattle items and some pictures of John PRATER with Presidents, plus scrapbooks of articles about him. I am trying to scan most of it before giving the items to Museums and Archives.
