disneydave Posted February 15, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2012 This great illustration was created by Disney artist Hank Porter. While the placement of the text in the poster is different that what appeared in the original illustration, the image of Donald is exactly the same in the finished poster and the art. Just a super piece!
R. Watkins Posted February 15, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2012 This is a great image Dave, thanks for sharing it. I can't help but wonder if this might not have been the inspiration for Disney's Scrooge McDuck a few years later. Bob
disneydave Posted February 20, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted February 20, 2012 Always a possibility. Hank Porter did work on one of the first Donald Duck comic book stories. Carl barks created Uncle Scrooge, Gyro Gearloose, the Beagle Boys and many others. Porter and Barks would have crossed paths while at the Disney studio. I'm not up on my history of Scrooge. Unfortunately I don't own this poster. It sold on eBay for more than I could afford.
