This photo is an original I just picked up. After I received it, I went perusing through "Heroes U.S. Marine Corps 1861-1955" from Jane Blakeney and found this on page 189 (Silver Star WW II section) of the book. HAYS, Lawrence C., Jr., 05624 Tarawa, Gilbert Islands 21 to 23 Nov 1943

 

A separate note about this book follows. What made me happy was the statement I received with this particular book from the seller AFTER the purchase was complete. I copied the note so you guys wouldn't think I was pulling your leg. I bought the book almost three years ago from a used and out-of-print dealer through Barnes and Noble!
