Death Posted December 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2007 This is something that I had just picked up, and I thought that I would appeal to the omniscient guru's in our collecting community. This is what I believe to be a Bund flag for German veterans living in America, C. 1870's-1880's. Please note that the eagle is merely the likeness of a patriotic eagle. I, in no way, purport that this is an actual, living eagle, nor that its sympathies are patriotic. Comments and opinions would be appreciated. Your's for eternity, Death

Thats definitely a unique find. By the way, I found your closing comment, "Yours For Eternity, Death" to be very witty. - Jeff
Manchu Warrior Posted December 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2007 What I believe this flag to be is what is left of a sailors "In Remembrance of My Cruise" flag. I have one that looks almost like it that I believe dates to around 1900. The one of I have the sailor was in the Philippines Hawaii and Japan and I believe part of yours is missing. I will post a photo of the one I have as soon as I get a chance to.
Manchu Warrior Posted December 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted December 22, 2007 For some reason I could not edit my own response, Oh well. I believe your flag is from a sailor who may have been on a cruise that went to Germany but I may be wrong. Just for you information I pulled this out of a dumpster. Death Posted December 22, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted December 22, 2007 I must admit, the construction details are strikingly similar. Thank you for the valuable insight. It's nice to see what a complete example would look like.
