Belleauwood Posted January 29, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2012 Recent Find from same estate. Looks like all from same family. Pilot image is a RARE dress blue with bullion wings. Seldom seen for sure. Just back from the framers. DJ

artur95 Posted January 30, 2012 Share #8 Posted January 30, 2012 I always enjoy photos of servicemen in the same family- it just shows what they contribuated as a whole for their nation. I actually gave a class mate a small Marine album before Christmas- since his older brother and sister are both Marines and hes planning to enlist in a few years. He just admires both of them, and I'm glad he can now preserve some irreplacable memories. I am curious though, do you know if the father also served in the Marines? Edit: replaced military with Marines

Edit: replaced military with Marines I don't know if the father served in any military capacity. Truth is, I don't know if it's the father, hence the ? in my title. An assumption on my part due to the facial features and clothing the 'father" is wearing. These were the only items together in the box. All were framed. So maybe? Leatherneck-1918 Posted February 4, 2012 Share #10 Posted February 4, 2012 He's 5th Marine Brigade alright - 1st Battalion, 11th Marines. They used the same shape for the patches like the 4th did with a square for the 5th Marines, ( 11th Marines ) and a diamond for the 6th Marines, ( 13th Marines ) and a circle for Brigade H.Q. and Brigade M. G. Battalion. For the V's the 5th used the following colors - Red, ( 1st Bn./ M.G. Co. ) white, ( 2nd Bn. ) Blue, ( 3rd Bn. ) Green, ( Supply Co. ) Yellow, ( H.Q. ).
