Doomula5000 Posted January 18, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2012 I've been offered a nice WW2 USMC ships detachment Greens it has patches, ribbons and air crew wings. Has anybody ever seen AC wings on this type of uniform before or does it even make sense?? Any comments would be great. Thanks for looking. CUBUSMC Posted January 18, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2012 OK, so let me understand, you are being offered a set of WWII Marine service greens with a set of air crew wings. What do the wings look like? The Marine Corps and the Navy did have Combat Aircrew Wings and Observer Wings during WWII. I believe both were authorized for wear for Marines. Once the Marine earned the wings, he would have been authorized to wear them on his uniform from that period on, even if he were transferred to a ships detachment. Now the Aircrew Wings with the AC on top of the anchor did not come out intil I think the late 50's. Does this help? - Jeff
