Vincennes Posted January 14, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2012 I picked up a couple vintage portrait studio photos of US Navy sailors today at the flea market. The holder on these measures 5.75x8.75" when closed. There is a small drawing of a Japanese woman with an umbrella on the front cover. I show one of the photos below. The second portrait is of the same sailor with 2 of his buddies. These were obviously taken in Yokohama, Japan, but I do NOT know when. Is there anything on the uniforms that can be dated to pre or post WW2? Paul
Vincennes Posted January 14, 2012 Author Share #2 Posted January 14, 2012 The second picture shows the insignia on his sleeves in close up. I think he was a Boatswain Mate Petty Officer Second Class, and a gun pointer. But I am not sure what the lower emblem on his right sleve (on the left as you look at the picture), or the star on his other sleeve mean. Any Help?
