I have an M2 ammo can. Is there a way to determine if it is correct WWII?

Thanks!

There are 2 minor variations to the M2 .50 cal ammo box. Both are WW2 used. The original blueprints for the M2 ammo box were dated 2 Oct. 1942. I don't know if they continued to produce the M2 box post WW2. There sure are a lot of them around still today.
