Bearmon Posted November 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2011 USCG Port Security Unit although all references I see have three digit numbers: 308 Gulfport MS, 309 Port Clinton OH etc These are fast/quick response teams for Homeland Security, not The Dept of but for actual fast response to issue of port security Link to comment
KurtA Posted November 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2011 It's probably Port Security for the 9th Coast Guard District. Link to comment

GIl Sanow Posted November 10, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2011 Thanks for the help on this--Blue Skies Mark I wonder if this is a higher HQ for all 9th CG District units. G Link to comment
Garth Thompson Posted November 10, 2011 Share #7 Posted November 10, 2011 http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/dog/units.asp This shows the PSU's no number 9 though! Kurt is correct. The 9th is for the 9th Coast Guard District headquartered in Cleveland, OH. The patch would be for the Port Security Unit attached to the 9th's HQ. Garth Link to comment

Bearmon Posted November 11, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 11, 2011 Cleveland OH is PSU 302 I can find no reference to any HQ PSU. The Coast Guard advertises thier units pretty well. Where did you come across your information so I know where else to look in the future? Thanks Link to comment

Thanks Cleveland OH was PSU 302, it is now PSU 309, and has been for a number of years. The 9th patch is the original patch worn during the Persin Gulf War. Go to www.USCG.mil and look for the historian link. There is a lot of good info on the early development of the PSUs. Hope this helps. Link to comment
