Championhilz Posted November 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2007 I recently picked up this souvenir book from Tyndall FIeld Flexible Gunnery School in Panama City, Florida. The nice thing about the book is that the owner wrote his name on the inside cover, and there is a picture of him in the book with the rest of the training cadre from Tyndall field. The book belonged to Sgt. Roger F. Van Devender who served in the 2135th AAF Base Unit, Section C. He enlisted on Oct. 7, 1942 at Greenville Army Air Field in Greenville, Mississippi. He had one year of college at the time of his enlistment, and his civilian occupation was listed as geographer.
Tyndall Historian Posted October 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2008 Hi I'm Ted Roberts, the Tyndall AFB Historian. I saw that you had this book. I am trying to set up a Heritage Museum, and I need additional material. I have lots **LOTS** of other material that might interest you. I would be willing to make stuff available to you, that no one else has. Ted
Wailuna Posted October 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 4, 2008 One notable alumnus of Tyndall Field Flexible Gunnery School was 2nd Lt. Clark Gable, who was graduated there in 1943, before he went to England in Eighth Air Force. Is he in your album?
