I need help in identifying a 105mm Howitzer wooden ammo crate. On the end where the lock is there is the following stamp:

1315-00-028-4857-C440
2-CARTRIDGE 105MM HE M1 DUALGRAN
FOR HOWITZER M2A1, M2A2, M103 AND M137
WT. 107 LBS
CU. 20
LOADED 8-76

Across the crate, but on the same side as the previous stamp is the following stamps:

W/ SUPPL CHG W/O FUZE
COMP. B (2 square shapes)
LOT KN-821 -11

The door has this stamp:

AMMUNITION FOR CANNON W/ EXPLOSIVE PROJECTILES

The inside of the crate has this number stamped on it:

5378

I'm not sure if this is a replica crate or the real thing. The handles appear to be black nylon rope and seem too new for the age of the wood.

Looking forward to help on what year this is from!

Thanks,

Richard

Did they even have wooden crates with black nylon handles for 105mm ammunition?

Yes, That is what we used in Vietnam. I have a '68 dated crate for 90mm HEAT rounds sitting on the porch with black nylon handles.
