Nice design. Sure looks like the Big Bad Wolf to me, but I have nothing in my database. Let me do some more research and I'll report back with my findings.

UPDATE: this is the insignia for the 20th submarine patrol squadron Civil Air Patrol

This was one of several 'Disney like' images I have recently been researching and

thought you might be interested in knowing that the Disney Archives Manager recently

confirmed that this particular design did NOT originate from the Disney Studios.

Thanks for the reply.

The design may be based on either a Disney or Tex Avery wolf character. The design might not be officially sanctioned by either of the studios, but it was surely based on one or the others wolf characters. This was quite common.

While Disney artists created over 1,200 designs during the war, there were also dozens of non-authorized designs created by men in the field, based on their favorite characters.

Cheers.

Johnny Signor

I've done a little research on the WW2 CAP units, this one was the Coastal Patrol SQUADRON 20 Based out of Corpus Christie, Texas .
