Nkomo Posted October 4, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2011 I was wondering if the 1st Armored Division ever wore the Vietnam era flak jackets during Desert Storm, specefically a combat medic. I know a friend who wore a Nam era flak jacket during Just Cause. Just don't remember seeing any in use there. Any help is appreciated. vmfa314 Posted January 10, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2013 They should not have. Being a front line division they would have had the kevlar vests. Being in a Marine Fighter Attack Squadron deployed to Bahrain we were issued the Kevlar vest and we were not front line troops. Mack
hawkdriver Posted January 10, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 10, 2013 With that said, I know many units took them with them. The local AF refueling group next door took the vietnam era vests with them and were then issued Kevlar PASGT vests and the vietnam vests went back in the storage box. When I was in Kosovo, our parent Company also brought the 1955 vest and the diapers. They never came out of the box as we were issued PASGT at mob station.
