The bottom one is among my all time favorite wings of those have, it's a very hefty wing! I've seen a Service Pilot in the same fashion (elongated shield) but it went for way more than I could spend at that time. Bob - the unknown wing in post #9 i like to call the cadet type based upon the the base wing being the same as the cadet hat badge. (Thanks for posting several fine examples) Russ - I had to start it off right... even if small knowing the quality of the collections of the members of this forum. Keep posting guys! Sorry forgot to add a reply to this question - the L wings are harder to find compared to the S and G in my opinion. I do not recall the numbers but IIRC there were fewer qualified liasion pilots. maybe someonce can provide the exact numbers. Thanks for the question. John Cooper Posted September 21, 2011 Author Share #16 Posted September 21, 2011 Irish - I have heard as to why but they just did not seem right to me i.e. the mark was removed because it was not actually sterling. It is possible they used silver that was less than .925 but unless I see some more evidence then this is just a story. Maybe someone can shed some light on this? The top one is the most interesting for me - I think this might be a Dodge example based on the feathering. Note the absolutely massive catch!
