wdphll Posted November 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2007 Got this with one of the groupings I purchased this weekend. I have never seen one but I guess they are pretty common. It did come with two 1943 dated booklets one is use, care, and sharpening which has pics of it being carried by soldiers, the second is Fighting with the Knife..which has pictures of how to defend against and kill Japanese soldiers. dustin Posted November 15, 2007 Share #8 Posted November 15, 2007 to be complete you need the shrapening stone too, but that is a good score with the booklets which are the hardest to find, the machete it self is common and used throughout the vietnam war but by then it was issued in a metal scabbard, your scabbard is correct for WWII.I do not think I have ever seen a "combat" photo type scenerio of these in use, this is a Signal Corp work tool not really a fighting machete but in a sense the same could be said for the M-1942 machete and you see these all the time in PTO photographs. The M-1942 machete can accomplish the same if not more than the LC-14 and am sure a more favored item.
