My apologies if I have posted this before, but getting an ID on the shield on the right is really gnawing at me. Anyone have info on it? Thanks, Al Hirschler in Dallas.

It may be a mark for a union. Sometimes you will see a hallmark on some items if they were made by a union shop? Just a thought.

Thanks pfrost. Although I guess that there is always a first time, but I have never seen a "union" hallmark on any of my or other forum members' Meyer devices. Since the USN and USMC use the same style rank insignia, maybe this one was specifically marketed to the Marine Corps. Just my hunch. Thanks, Al.

I can't cite any official document on this mark, but I have seen it on other pieces that were Marine Corps related. At one time in the past, the Marine Corps closely regulated the insignia manufactured for their uniforms. If you look on the backs of some post-1958 chevrons you will see a three-digit-number stamped on it. This could have been a contract number or such. It would be nice if the services made information on this type of stuff readily available so we wouldn't have to speculate in forums like this.
