"Die Farbe" or "The Colour Out of Space"

I've been debating for a LONG time whether or not if I should post this, but I live in Germany and way too far for some of you to come and lynch me. It is a low/no budget film.

I played a roll in a German Science Fiction film "Die Farbe" pronounced "dee farbe", a remake of the old H.P. Lovecraft's short story, "The Colour Out of Space", Huan Vu, the Director Germanized the film, instead of being in the States, made it to fit into Germany, instead of police, he uses US GIs.

As to my part, he saw my old Avatar on a German Forum, wrote me if I would be interested in playing the roll of a US Army Medical Officer Lt. Davis at the end of ww-2, after one or two more mails, I finally believed him, told him sounds good to me, but that Avatar of me is almost 40 years old, he says, "oh"...... but he has another roll, the same guy, only 30 years later, Dr. Davis, the rest is history.

A small roll, no talking, thank God. But two of my old BRO buddies who also live over here and me got to do some synchronizing for the film, the scenes with the US GIs was filmed with Swiss reenactors, and thier english just didn't sound very GI, so that was fun, the whole film was fun.

Anyway, here's the Trailor.

Pat...I've never corresponded with a real-live movie star before. I'm awestruck! (Can you get me a part as an extra?!)

Ian ;)

Ian, not sure about getting you a part as an extra, BUT, I might be needing a chauffer, (do you take to drink?) and bodyguard, I'm not the youngest anymore and these groupies are starting to take thier toll.

Not that much colour in this Farbe film, is there? ;)

Hmmm..., maybe because it was filmed in black & white?

The only "colour" to be seen is when the alien(s) started getting activated.

Pat...I've heard an unsubstantiated rumour that you're being considered for your own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Ian ;)

Ian, I doubt that very much! It's just a Sci-Fi film, and mostly just for H.P. Lovecraft freaks, not a very big audience. (If the truth be known, I'm not even too wild about Sci-Fi films).
Not the "Walk of Fame", but my mother donated some money to the City of Renton, Washington along time ago, (not my idea) and had my name added to a memorial there to all Veterans, including peacetime, who served. I'm getting off topic again.

EDIT: Pictures are lost

Pat...I just read your response to my quip about the "Walk of Fame"! So you've achieved immortality twice already? Once on celluloid and once on the military memorial. Congratulations...it's more than I've achieved thus far!

Ian

Ian, about the "Memorial", my mother, God bless her soul, had my name added, she was very proud that I was in the army. It's something my grandaughter can look at when she flies to the States later on in life. ;) I was a peacetime trooper, Vietnam was still going on, but they sent me to Germany, never heard a shot fired in anger, and the only time(s) I was in "harms way" was with "social diseases", or playing hide and seek with the M.P.'s.

That's moms / mums for you Pat. Always proud of their boys. I did mine in reverse, so to speak. When mine passed away last year I had a bench with an engraved plate set up in a local park in her memory.

September 16-17, 2011 • Warner Grand Theatre, San Pedro (LA), CA

I wonder what the American audience will say about the film? ? ?

"The latest Lovecraft movies from around the world, including the Southern California premiere of The Whisperer in Darkness, the first feature from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, makers of the iconic adaptation of The Call of Cthulhu. Also screening: Die Farbe ("The Color"), a thrilling German feature adaptation of Lovecraft's tale "The Colour Out of Space" (subtitled in English)".

Tanks Ian! I'm just glad the film got some kind of credit, better then being booed and run out of town and/or tar & feathered!

BTW, where did you learn Deutsch?
