jcsoup Posted May 23, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2011 I found this patch with Casper the friendly Ghost in with a lot of WWII era patches in a lot I purchased. Can anyone identify it?

R. Watkins Posted May 23, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 23, 2011 I found this patch with Casper the friendly Ghost in with a lot of WWII era patches in a lot I purchased. Can anyone identify it? If I'm not mistaken the first Casper cartoon didn't come out until late 1945, so it's unlikely of WWII vintage.
jcsoup Posted May 23, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted May 23, 2011 If I'm not mistaken the first Casper cartoon didn't come out until late 1945, so it's unlikely of WWII vintage. Seymour Reit came up with Casper and published a children's book in 1939. The film adaptation came out in 1945. Reit served in WWII and later published The Amazing Camouflage Deceptions of World War II. The patch may be later and it may not be a military patch at all. It looks more military than something a kid would have sewn on his clothes though.

Is this something that is currently available? Patch Johnson
