cwnorma Posted October 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2007 All, I haven't posted in a while, but thought I would share some items I have recently acquired: The first is this WW1 Air Service Enlisted uniform of Claudius E. This uniform is the closest I have ever seen to the 1917 regulations that call for the Enlisted Air Service insignia on the right shoulder to be worn "let in at the shoulder seam." Most frequently when the Squadron number isn't used, the Propellor, is trimmed down to a circle. Of note is the German made Air Service collar disk. Thanks to John Devine for steering me to this one. cwnorma Posted October 13, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted October 13, 2007 The next is this Enlisted Air Service Uniform of Sergeant Charles B. WW1 uniforms run small but this uniform is the smallest WW1 uniform, girth wise, I have ever come across. Although normal in height, his waist must have been around 25"!!! If you notice, he was so narrow, that he modified the placement of his collar disks on the coat collar, moving them closer to the center, and stitching the original holes. cwnorma Posted October 13, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 13, 2007 The final item is this shirt of Sergeant Peter A. of the Army Air Service Of note is the German made Air Service collar disk. It is screw backed, and made like a button--marked: "EXTRA FEIN" Chris
