LTGSANCHEZ Posted October 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2007 I had this for a few months but dug it up after I saw one just as nice on eBay command some big bucks. Has 99% of blueing. Sheath has single row of stitching. The rest of my fighting knives look like they've seen combat or years of gutting fish.
Greg Robinson Posted October 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2007 I own one of those that is virtually mint, has 99%+ bluing, no scratches, and just a trace of blue rubbed off the center line in one place. It wasn't cheap five years ago at $350 but I thought it was that nice. However, unlike a lot of minty WW2 knives I've not noticed any significant value appreciation. So you comment re one going high on ebay was nice to see. How much did it sell for?
LTGSANCHEZ Posted October 11, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 11, 2007 Sold for $730... I generally see them for around $400 in really good shape. This one was two very small rust spots on the blade about 1/32 inch. I wanted some feedback on it. I wouldn't mind selling it as (again) all my knives are beat to hell or part of groupings and I would rather it be in a knife collectors collection and I can buy something I'd be more interested in with the cash. Perhaps the one I saw on ebay was a rare variation or have more lottery winners and CEOs joined the ranks of military collecting. ... Hooah, my 100th post. gunbarrel Posted October 11, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 11, 2007 You all are lucky! I would love to have one. I think they are among the finest knives ever made. LT, let me know if you are going to sell it. I may take a stab at it (no pun intended)

LTGSANCHEZ Posted October 12, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted October 12, 2007 I'm not a knife collector by any means, but I may have to agree with you on it being one of the nicest looking WWII fighting knives. Love the shiny blueing and the way the grip was made. The germans made some awesome looking blades but there are a few nice US ones too.
Greg Robinson Posted October 12, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2007 Mine is very similar except it has a double line of stitching on the scabbard and a ground smooth pommel. They're beautifully made knives and probably expensive to manufacture which was the reason it got turned down by the US military as an issue knife.
