Australia made US Flight Engineer E wing and photo

I've been trying to I.D. the wings in this photo of my uncle who was a flight engineer on B-17s with the 435th sq./19bg in Australia. I would assume the "E" means engineer but have never seen a set like them. I have a bunch of his items but not this pair of wings. This is a blow up of a period photo. Any ideas?

As Paul said, un-authorized flight engineer wings. These appear to have been a modified observer wing, but could be English made, though I would expect the wings to have more feather detail. A buddy of mine has an example made by Wallace Bishop in Australia.

Thanks guys. I wish I had 'em too. Among the things I have of his are a set of pilot's wings, enlisted aircrew wings and a set of miniature bomardier wings. Here's the complete photo of him.

Great image @Doughboy1918 from many years ago. Happy to tie this photo to a picture of the wing below. I don't know if he is wearing a K.G. Luke wing like the one below but it is in a similar vein.
