m1barker Posted April 28, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 28, 2011 I ran across this sword at an antique store today. The sheath is in ROUGH shape. This again is outside of my comfort zone so I'm throwing it up here to get some comments from the pros. Its marked "Japan Sword Co. LTD" What can you guys tell me as far as era (60's 70's?) and owner (civilian or USN?)ThanksM1barker
Tim Posted May 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 17, 2011 Japan Sword Co. made very high quality US Navy and Marine swords before and after WWII. The other Maker is Miyazima & Co. The leather can be replaced.
Bob Hudson Posted July 23, 2018 Share #3 Posted July 23, 2018 To revive this vintage thread, here's a hallmarked US Naval Officer sword belt made by Japan Sword Co LTD. It's in the original box which has the name of the original owner, an officer on the USS Bennington CVS 20.
Dave Posted July 23, 2018 Share #4 Posted July 23, 2018 That's a nice belt, and in a human size too!
