chcole1 Posted April 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2011 Trying to ID this one. Sorry I don't have better pics. I've seen 76th with a similar bell but not in these colors. Any ideas? Chris
carbinephalen Posted April 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2011 Hmm...shown below are the three basic insignia that the Division used during WWI. Your patch is very curious. The bell with the crack on it shares some similarities with the 76th's "bell" patch. If it is one for the 76th, I have yet to see another one in all the research I have done. Some WWI patch experts might be able to chime in on this one. carbinephalen Posted April 14, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 14, 2011 This variation (I couldn't find the picture of it in patch form) is a ship with 76th written on the sail. A rarer version of a 76th WWI patch.
100thOVI Posted May 21, 2019 Share #5 Posted May 21, 2019 Came across this old post and thought I'd add the cloth version. Came on 1917 dated tunic. Any knowledge of the history of this design vs. the other more common 76th patches would be much appreciated. Cheers.
mortaydc60 Posted May 22, 2019 Share #6 Posted May 22, 2019 Rare version with ship;this version is the most common of these rather rare ship types ,but have had several very different variations and most if not all are without the 76. Most show front view of the ship believe to be the Mayflower and usually are on 5 pointed star background. Here is one I have on a uniform. world war I nerd Posted May 22, 2019 Share #7 Posted May 22, 2019 The shoulder patch might be a variation of the insignia used by the 16th Division. I'm pretty sure that this photo was posted here on the forum by CWNorma.
